Visibility, structured.
Helping a global financial institution see the health of its applications, services and data processes on one standardised control plane.
- Industry: Financial Services
- Service line: Full-Stack Engineering, Operational Intelligence
- Solution: Custom engagement
- Engagement: FastAPI backend, React monitoring interface
Results at a glance
- ≈40 monitoring metrics consolidated and standardised
- 6 purpose-built monitoring screens
- 7 areas of visibility read on one panel
Challenge
Eight dashboards, eight teams, and nobody who could see the whole estate.
Our client, a global financial institution, ran applications, services and data processes across many teams and technology stacks, each with its own idea of healthy. Understanding the state of everything meant opening every dashboard at once.
- Visible only after the fact. Issues surfaced when someone happened to check the right dashboard, not as they occurred.
- Dependencies nobody could see. A problem that started in one system and spread to another had no single view connecting the two.
- Reports that never met. Logs, infra metrics, batch jobs, tickets and alerts lived in separate tools never designed to be read together.
Solution
We built an enterprise monitoring control plane that standardises metrics once at the backend and renders them by role.
Six purpose-built screens, each answering one operational question: Service Health, Data Processing, Exceptions, Performance, Dependencies, and Alerts & Trends.
- Standardised ingestion. A FastAPI backend ingested data from multiple systems so a metric meant the same thing whatever its source.
- One instrument panel. Health, data processing, exceptions, performance, dependencies, alerts and historical trends read together in one glance.
- Views by role. A React interface rendered role-based dashboards for operations, engineering and leadership from one data model.
Impact
Fragmentation across operational dashboards dropped, and teams moved from reactive investigation toward proactive operational management.
- Thirteen views, one plane. Previously separate views converged into a single unified interface.
- Earlier issue detection. Application and process issues became easier to spot and to trace across dependencies.
- A foundation to extend. The next application is configured against the platform rather than building monitoring from scratch.

Questions
What is a monitoring control plane?
It is one interface that standardises health, performance, dependency and alert data from many systems, so teams read the whole estate in one place.
What was it built with?
A FastAPI backend that ingests and standardises metrics, and a React interface that renders role-based dashboards.
Who uses the dashboards?
Operations, engineering and leadership, each with views suited to their own decisions.
What was missing was not more visibility into any one system, but one place where health, performance, dependencies and history could be read together.
